Flaking patterns, oil balance, sensitivity, density, and the way the scalp responds to touch all carry information the client cannot describe in words. The treatment that follows is decided by what the scalp shows, not by what the client requested at the desk.
 
A flaking scalp is not always dry. An oily scalp is not always over-active. A thinning area is not always genetic. The same surface can present in two different conditions and require two different routes. The practitioner who reaches for the same treatment regardless of presentation is guessing. The one who reads the scalp first is practising.

What I deliver is not a relaxing wash. It is a grooming-level assessment followed by the right intervention for what was found. When the condition is beyond the chair, I say so and refer. The discipline is in knowing which line not to cross.
