Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)

Restraint before density.

SMP is the most permanent decision a man makes about his head, and the one most often made in a hurry. Done well, it is invisible. Done in a hurry, it announces itself for years.

The Method

SMP is the most permanent decision a man makes about his head, and the one most often made in a hurry.

A pigment placed into the scalp does not wash out at the end of the week. The hairline drawn today is the hairline he wears for years. This is why the consultation matters more than the session.

The instinct is always toward more. A lower hairline, a denser field, the head of a younger man. My discipline runs the other way. The believable result is the restrained one. A hairline is designed to match the age of the face beneath it, the shape of the skull, the way the man actually presents himself in the room. Skin tone, existing density, and how the scalp will hold pigment over time all decide the work before the first dot is placed.

It is built in stages, never in one appointment. Each session is read against the last. The aim is not a tattoo of hair. The aim is that no one can tell the difference. The eye accepts it and the man forgets it is there.

Done well, SMP is invisible. Done in a hurry, it announces itself for years. The restraint is the skill.
